Man hit by car on M25 hard shoulder dies

A man has died after he was hit by a car on the hard shoulder of one of the UK’s busiest motorways yesterday.

Scotland Yard said officers were called at 7.20am after the man was injured on the southbound (anticlockwise) carriageway of the M25 between junctions 15 and 14.

The man, of Asian appearance and believed to be in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital but died just before noon.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “It is now believed the deceased was in the vicinity of the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway for approximately one hour before he was in collision with a grey VW Passat estate car at approximately 7.20am. The car stopped at the scene.”

Inquiries were yesterday under way to establish the man’s identity.

He was wearing a check patterned shirt, blue jeans and black trainers.

No one had been arrested, the spokesman added.
