Man sentenced to jail for sex with 12-year-old girl

Leeds Crown Court heard Ferdinand Guasque knew the girl was only 12 when he first had sex with her, when he was 19.

She consented to everything that happened between them, believing herself in love with him.

She made no complaint and said they were only friends when questioned but her parents involved police when they discovered the truth.

Guasque, 21, of Shakespeare Grange, Burmantofts, Leeds, admitted two charges of rape and two of sexual activity with a child.

The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC, said he accepted there had been no force involved and he had felt affection for the girl. It was a case of statutory rape because at her age she was not able to give consent.

James Keeley for Guasque said he was a hard-working and intelligent young man who now realised he had acted completely inappropriately

He was not a a paedophile, would not offend again and would have the stigma of being called a sex offender as well as possible deportation.
