Masked gang target jewellery store

A JEWELLERY store in Bradford has been robbed when a gang of masked men reversed a car through its window.

The four men, who were all wearing balaclavas, reversed the Ford Focus car through the front display window of Shaandar Zewar Jewellers on Maidstone Street in the Bradford Moor area at around 11am on Monday.

West Yorkshire Police said two of the men were believed to be carrying firearms but no shots were fired.

An amount of jewellery was taken from the displays and the four male suspects then left in a waiting car - a black Volkswagen Golf GTI registration MJ 55 YBT, which was then found burnt out on Bullroyd Avenue.

Detective Inspector Ian Bryar, who is leading the investigation, said: "Fortunately, no-one was injured during this robbery but the shopkeeper and his assistant have been left very shaken by the incident.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact me or anyone who saw the black VW Golf being driven afterwards."

Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information about it is asked to contact DI Bryar at Bradford South CID on 0845 60 60 606 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
