Miliband on campaign trail

David Miliband makes a point during a visit to the Leeds Islamic Centre in Spencer Place, Chapeltown, yesterday.

The front-runner for the Labour leadership hit the campaign trail in Yorkshire with a visit to his former school in Leeds. Mr Miliband travelled to Horsforth Newlaithes Junior School in Pudsey to meet pupils, after holding meetings in Wakefield with members of the GMB Union.

The former Foreign Secretary also visited Ilkley and Keighley – which Labour lost at the General Election. Mr Miliband leads his brother Ed in the leadership contest by 81 nominations to 63. Both are comfortably ahead of rivals Diane Abbott, Andy Burnham and Morley and Outwood MP Ed Balls, who have 33 nominations each.
