Milky Barred Kid gets Mensa invitation

A teenager who was turned down for a role as the Milky Bar kid in an advertisement went on to experience the sweet taste of success when he was invited to join Mensa, his school has revealed.

Joseph Warrilow, 13, from Rochester in Kent, auditioned for the role but did not get the part as he was told he looked too much like the boy in the original adverts.

However, after taking part in a recent supervised Mensa IQ exam held at the University of London, he beat hundreds of others to finish in the country's top 1 per cent and has been invited to join Mensa.

Joseph, who is a year nine pupil at Gad's Hill School in nearby Higham, follows in his father's footsteps by joining the society.

'I found the multiple choice paper relatively straightforward and so left the test feeling quite pleased with myself,' he said.
