Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity said: "Tourism in Yorkshire is breaking records and that is due, in no small part, to our dynamic, innovative and exciting website.

"Yorkshire.com is selling Yorkshire to the world and it is having a dramatic impact on the fortunes of the county. Traffic to Yorkshire.com has increased 80 per cent year-on-year which just goes to show that the world is watching what we are doing."

Unique visits to the site, which was launched last April, topped 2.3m last year and are already over one million this year. Last month saw the highest ever traffic figures for a single month.

The TravelMole awards are voted for by subscribers and judged by an independent panel.

Welcome to Yorkshire is also nominated for Europe's leading marketing campaign in the World Travel Awards later this year.
