Minister apologisesfor vouchers error

The Government has apologised for underestimating the number of bonus vouchers issued to Department for Work and Pensions staff under a reward scheme.

Work and Pensions Minister Jim Knight had told Tory Justine Greening that 28,869 retail vouchers, worth 1.03m, had been issued in 2008-09.But yesterday he acknowledged an error and said the correct figures should have been 47,121 vouchers issued at a cost of 2.02m.
