‘Miraculous healing bed’ ad banned

An advert for a bed that claimed to have “miraculous healing properties” has been banned by a watchdog for being misleading.

The manufacturers of the Nuga Best therapeutic couch said it used “health waves” to “control the body weight, decomposing the body fat, and improves skin beauty”.

A complainant challenged its assertions that sleeping on it for one night could “produce the same effect as running 20-30km” and that its infrared technology could burn up to 1,000 calories and improve the cardiovascular system.

In addition, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) launched investigations into claims that the couch made by Nuga Best UK & Ireland “improved immunity of the body” and could relieve pain, inflammation and fatigue.

The advert, which showed a picture of the couch in a field situated near a couple lying under a tree, promised that buyers could “burn off calories with Tourmanium, the special nano ceramic by Nuga Best”, saying it had been developed using volcanic rock.

Nuga Best, which was set up in Seoul, Korea, said it has more than 10 million users across the world and this was the first time its claims had been questioned.
