Missiles force rock band off stage

Concert organisers stopped Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose walking out on a gig after angry fans pelted his band with plastic glasses.

The singer was 40 minutes late on stage at The O2 in Dublin on Wednesday night and faced flying containers full of what promoters described as “unknown substances”.

Rose threatened to walk off warning: “We want to stay... one more bottle and we go home.” After 22 minutes, he lived up to his word and stormed off.

Denis Desmond, head of promoter MCD, pleaded with the audience to stop and the band eventually went back on stage.

Guns N’ Roses’ two recent appearances at Leeds and Reading were marred by very late arrivals on stage which led to their sets being cut short. At Leeds Rose responded with a foul-mouthed tirade aimed at police and organisers.
