Mist descends on Abbey Dash

THOUSANDS of runners took to the misty streets of Leeds yesterday, including the city’s very own glamour girl Nell McAndrew, to help raise thousands of pounds for people in later life.

Now in its 27th year, the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 10km is popular with fun-runners, celebrities and elite athletes alike.

A handful of runners ran the event in fancy dress and a team of Deloitte staff showed they had a head for direction as well as figures by running blindfolded.

Money raised through the event will support Age UK’s national projects and services, as well as the local fit as a fiddle programme, delivered by Age UK Leeds.

The programme offers older people the opportunity to get involved with Wii fit sessions, ‘chairobics’ and cookery classes.
