More misery on the rails as West Yorkshire trains cancelled

PUT-UPON passengers endured more rush-hour train delays in West Yorkshire.

At Brighouse, a lineside equipment problem, which has affected services all week, again caused delays and cancellations.

Northern Rail was unable to run any services between Halifax and Huddersfield, with buses running instead and calling at Brighouse.

Trains from Halifax to Wakefield Kirkgate were not calling at Huddersfield or Deighton.

Train passengers, who face average 4.2% season ticket fare rises in January, have endured a miserable November, with morning rush-hour delays on a number of main line routes on many mornings.
