More than 200 millionaires' rows but none in Yorkshire

Parkside, in the SW19 area of London, is the country's most expensive street, with the average property on it costing more than 5m, according to Lloyds TSB.

It is followed by Wycombe Square, Blenheim Crescent, Mallord Street and Drayton Gardens, all in Kensington and Chelsea, where average house prices range from just over 4m to 4.4m.

More than half of the 20 most expensive streets in England and Wales are in Kensington and Chelsea, and all but two are in Greater London.

Woodlands Road West in Virginia Water, Surrey, is the most expensive street on which to live outside of London, followed by Burkes Road in Beaconsfield, Bucks, with both streets having average house prices of more than 2.7m.

Overall, there are 228 streets in England and Wales where the value of homes averages more than 1m, while there are 36 which have typical house prices of more than 2m.

Brundenell Avenue in Sandbanks, Dorset, is the most expensive street outside of London and the South East, with homes costing more than 2m.

The most expensive street in the north is Withinlee Road in Macclesfield – where the average house price stands at 1,629,000.

Other high valued streets outside of the south include Torkington Road in Wilmslow and Park Lane in Altrincham, both in Cheshire, and Graham Parker Road in Newcastle.

Sedley Taylor Road in Cambridge is the most expensive street in East Anglia, with average house prices of 1.1 million.

But there are no streets in the East Midlands, West Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber and Wales that have average property values of more than 1m.

However, buying a home on Green Lane, Harrogate, costs around 758,000, with the street one of five in the town that make it into the top 10 most expensive places to live in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Llantrithyd Road in the Glamorgan Vale commands the most expensive house prices in Wales at an average of 789,000.
