More of Yorkshire’s most exclusive Christmas gifts... and how they help soldiers

THE Yorkshire Post Christmas charity auction is entering its third week with 10 new lots announced following an incredible response from readers so far.

As another week’s prizes have yet again been snapped up after fierce bidding, 10 more of the most exclusive presents in the region are now revealed for readers in the auction, which is sponsored by Grant Thornton, the Leeds-based leading business and financial advisers.

All proceeds are going to ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity which is battling to care for soldiers and their families at a time of unprecedented need.

Among the pick of this week’s lots, is a night for two in Eccleston Square Hotel, a boutique hotel situated in up-market Belgravia and billed as the most hi-tech place to stay in Europe. Every room is equipped with advanced, state-of-the-art interiors, including 46-inch 3D televisions, iPAD2s and £12,000 adjustable Hasten beds.

Closer to home, readers can bid for a tour of the Emmerdale set to see firsthand some of the filming locations of the ITV soap, such as The Woolpack pub.

Another of the lots offers the chance of a spa day and round of golf at Aldwark Manor Golf and Spa Hotel, near York.

Bids are also invited for the chance to learn the art of baking passed down through the generations at Bettys Cookery School in Harrogate.

Other lots include a money-can’t-buy bottle of House of Commons whisky signed by Prime Minister David Cameron, along with a rare framed poster of Gallantry Awards signed by four Victoria Cross and three George Cross winners, celebrating 100 years of bravery by the British Armed Forces.

For more active bidders, there is the chance to join Huddersfield Town’s first team squad for a morning’s training session.

A hot air balloon ride for two is also on offer, as well as the chance to win a Lewis and Cooper deluxe hamper delivered direct to your door.
