From morph suits to Wonder Woman outfit, charity walkers brave the heat

DESPITE the soaring temperatures, some walkers and their support teams donned an impressive array of fancy dress to mark the fourth Trailtrekker event.

One team, Morph Speed Ahead, sported Lycra morph suits that covered every inch of the body, including, their faces.

While another, The Walking Dead, finished the route yesterday morning in matching T-shirts and Halloween Zombie masks.

Trailtrekker veteran Carol Kirkby, 55, who has been involved in the event every year since it was launched, took part in the walk alongside three colleagues from the Skipton Group, Jeremy Lamb, 29, and Gavin and Leon Smith, 30 and 37, dressed in a Wonder Woman outfit.

“We wanted to do superheroes but it was a bit difficult for the guys to try and do it in a full outfit so I thought I still would.

“I also wore it last year as well, although I have taken the cape off for this year because when we were at Malham Cove it was not very good in the wind and at one point I thought I might take off.

“That would have been cheating as we are supposed to walk it.

“It is actually very breathable and comfortable while you are walking along the route and works really well.

“But I bet other superhero outfits would not be as practical.

“We have managed to raise about £2,000 every year so to raise £10,000 for such a worthwhile cause is brilliant.

“Although I must be a bit mad to be getting involved with this again.”
