Motorway to shut for tests
Diversions will be in place as the M62 is shut in both directions from 8pm tonight between
junctions 27 and 29 ahead of a test of the managed motorway system.
Reopening at 8am on Sunday, the test will continue until noon and see the hard shoulder opened up as an extra lane and overhead signs displaying lane closures and variable speed limits.
Once completed, a 50mph speed limit will be in place and the hard shoulder closed. A week of further testing may follow.
