Murder inquiry starts after police called to street find body of woman

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after a woman's body was found in Mirfield.

Officers were called to an address on Oddfellow Street in the town after concerns were raised about the welfare of a woman in her thirties.

When they arrived, shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday, they discovered the body of a woman.

The identity of the victim has not been released by West Yorkshire Police.

Last night the woman had not yet been formally identified and a post mortem was being carried out to establish the cause of death.

Yesterday scenes of crime officers were at the scene carrying out forensic inquiries at the address.

Detectives yesterday were working to try to establish the full circumstances of what had happened to the woman found at the address and how she came about her fatal injuries.

Officers were yesterday trying to locate members of the victim's family.
