Murderer missing from jail found and arrested

A convicted murderer who failed to return to an open prison more than three years ago has been found, police said.

Graham Dean, 63, was convicted of murder after a trial at Newport Crown Court, South Wales, in November 1981, and jailed for life.

He failed to return to Prescoed Prison in Monmouthshire on June 16, 2006.

The open jail allows inmates to make home leave visits of up to a week when their sentence is nearing its end.

Yesterday Gwent Police said Dean had been arrested in Bristol.

They also appealed for information to find two patients who absconded together from a psychiatric hospital.

Nicholas Richmond, 21, and Paul Turner, 31, left Llanarth Court Hospital, near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, at 2.15pm on Saturday.

Last night they said Richmond has been found and would be returned to the care of the health authority.

Both men were considered a potential risk to the public because they were no longer in controlled conditions and members of the public were warned not to approach them.
