Murray’s Wimbledon exit leaves men’s final tickets up for grabs

Online firm Viagogo saw a 23 per cent increase in ticket listings after Murray mania came to an abrupt end earlier this week, with the re-sale price of Sunday’s Centre Court tickets down by 10 per cent.

But the number of tennis fans searching for men’s final tickets has remained steady with the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic still in the running - and continues to be twice as popular as Saturday’s women’s final.

Meanwhile, Judy Murray, who watched her son knocked out earlier than expected by Grigor Dimitrov on Wednesday, said the Scot will challenge the Wimbledon title again. She insisted that Andy would return to the top of the sport and declared “form is temporary, class is permanent”.

On his defeat, she said: “It was a tough one. Obviously Grigor was playing very, very well, very fired up. He was right on it from the start. Andy just didn’t manage to find his best form. He struggled with his return and particularly on serve throughout the whole match.”

Ahead of today’s semi-final clash against Milos Raonic, Roger Federer has branded Wimbledon’s all white dress code “too strict”.

The seven-time champion called on the All England Club to “loosen up the grip” on a rule that has been strictly enforced this year, leading to accusations of players even having their underwear checked before matches.

The tightened-up rules were slammed as “ridiculous” by former champion Pat Cash.
