Musical evening for Duchess's charity

THE Duchess of Kent will be at a special concert in Hull next month to raise funds for her charity Future Talent.

The Duchess – or Katharine Kent as she prefers to be known outside Royal circles – taught incognito at Wansbeck Primary School in the city for more than a decade before setting up the charity, which encourages and supports gifted youngsters, aged between five and 18.

The evening of music takes place at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, May 22, and will involve the City of Hull Youth Choir, the Albemarle String Octet and choirs from Hull Collegiate School.

The second half will see the choirs perform Faure's Requiem together, accompanied by an orchestra of local musicians.

Chris Maynard, head of Hull Music Service, said: "The Music Service is delighted to be involved with promoting and supporting the Duchess of Kent's charity which does so much to assist under-privileged children to engage with music. We hope that this will be the first of many such collaborations."

Ticket priced 10 and 5 concessions and are available from The Albemarle Music Centre on Ferensway (Hull 318800) and Hull Collegiate School (Hull 657016).
