Naval city honours air raid victims

THE names of more than 1,000 people killed in a German bombing blitz were read out at a memorial service held to mark the 70th anniversary of the attacks.

A total of 1,013 people are recorded to have been killed during the raids on Portsmouth, which destroyed large sections of the naval city, including the Guildhall.

The ceremony was held in the rebuilt Guildhall Square.
