Neolithic-themed sculptures on show at historic hall

A Yorkshire sculpture park in the grounds of a 17th century country house is hosting a new exhibition.

The contemporary sculpture park at Newby Hall, near Ripon, has welcomed back sculptor Reece Ingram for a solo exhibition of his popular and critically acclaimed work this summer.

Mr Ingram, who specialises in carving wood and stone and is inspired by the pattern and texture of Neolithic tombs, will display his work around the gardens of Newby Hall.

Stuart Gill, administrator at Newby Hall and Gardens, said: “We are always thrilled to welcome Reece back to Newby and each year he delights us with his artistry and wit.

“He has been a stalwart of our sculpture park and his sculptures are very well received by our visitors.

“Placing the sculptures in such a natural environment illustrates how great they would look in any garden.”

The sculptures will be on display until September 30.

Newby Hall is known as one of England’s renowned Adam houses and an exceptional example of 18th century interior decoration.

Built in the 1690s in the style of Sir Christopher Wren, the house was later enlarged and adapted by John Carr and subsequently Robert Adam.
