New champion for victims of city yobs

A new anti-social behaviour victims' champion has been appointed for the Bradford area.

Keeley Mathers, who works for Victim Support and is co-located with West Yorkshire Police, also works closely with members of the police anti-social behaviour partnership such as Bradford Council.

She said: "I am really pleased that I will be able to give people a voice. I always ask people what it is they want from me and I always try to get them the necessary support or answers that they need."

The job will involve giving support to victims of anti-social behaviour and taking referrals from key agencies.

Ms Mathers' role will also mean she can challenge agencies where victims or witnesses are not happy with the service received.

Police Insp Esther Hobbs said: "We know how much distress anti-social behaviour can cause to victims and it is very reassuring to know that we can now offer a specialist support to them."
