New charity trek for pram man
KNOWN as the “mad walker with the pram”, John Burkhill is a familiar sight around Sheffield.
Over the past 20 years, the 72-year-old widower has taken part in more than 850 races and walked thousands of miles in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, after the untimely deaths of both his wife June and daughter Karen. Yesterday, he set off from Sheffield Town Hall to walk the 60 miles to York to raise funds for the charity and will be collecting donations in his pram along the route.
