New community facility

RYEDALE District Council has announced it is to build an important new community facility in the heart of Malton after buying a building near the town’s railway station for £800,000.

The council has bought Stanley Harrison House at Malton Station, and says while future plans for the 7,000sqft offices have not yet been finalised, it is exploring possibilities for its use.

Council corporate director Paul Cresswell said: “It provides an opportunity for the council to consider the location of key services in the towns and we are in ongoing discussions with a number of parties.”

The buildings housed property and development company S Harrison before they moved.
