New restaurant for Skipton's Town Hall as facelift goes ahead

SKIPTON Town Hall will include a restaurant after major new work gets underway on October 10.

The development will also repair the roof and refurbish the main foyer and is due to be completed early in the new year.

The building will remain open and functioning while the works take place, with scaffolding on the outside of the building.

Nearby Jerry Croft will however need to be closed on October 24 and 25 to put bridging scaffolding along the elevation of the building and Skipton Town Council’s Christmas tree will have to be relocated for this year.

Paul Ellis, director of services at Craven District Council, said; “These works are crucial for both the long-term survival of the town hall and for us to deliver the exciting plans we have for the redevelopment of the town hall as a cultural destination. We apologise for any inconvenience that may arise and will be working with the contractors to keep disruption to a minimum.”

Craven District Council is currently refurbishing the building in phases. The first phase is complete and has created an accessible entrance, replaced the public toilets on the ground floor and created a commercial unit on the same level. There is also refurbished office space in the first floor with lift access and part of the building has been decorated.
