New venue for festival on waterfront

Granary Wharf has been secured as a new venue for the third annual Leeds Waterfront Festival.

The latest addition sits at the point where the River Aire meets the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Visitors will be able to enjoy events at Granary Wharf including visiting the Ministry of Chocolate, cookery demonstrations by Wasabi and City Inn chefs and live music from the Hop.

Rachel Clunas, Aire Action Leeds project officer, said: "The Waterfront Festival is growing and it's great to have another venue, it's another place to showcase the waterfront here in Leeds.

"Granary Wharf is another jewel in the crown along with Brewery Wharf, Clarence Dock and Thwaite Mills. There is something for everyone and people will be able to come to the festival and make a real day of it."

Granary Wharf is just one of many venues taking part in the festival which will be held on July 17 and 18.

Other highlights include live jazz and an urban market at Brewery Wharf, an arts market and acrobatic aerial display at Clarence Dock and family fun at Thwaite Mills as well as decorated canal boats and historic boats.
