New Water Park is "on-track" for July opening

The news comes the same day the Alpamare UK, the park's operator, announced that Scarborough-born Vicki Jones has been appointed to the position of Head of Operations and will be responsible for the day to day management of the attraction.

She previously held management posts at Whitby Leisure Centre, Scarborough Indoor Pool and the former Atlantis water park.

The alpine themed water park will feature four water rides, offering up to 2,500 rides per hour on four-person floats, two-person tubes, racing mats and body slides.

The attraction will also boast 480sqm indoor wave pool, luxury spa, 200sqm outdoor family pool, 170sqm outdoor iodine infinity pool, restaurant, terrace and landscaped gardens with sunbeds and luxury ‘day cottages’.

Dr Anton Hoefter, Alpamare chief executive officer said: "As excitement is building ahead of our planned summer opening, we are delighted to welcome Vicki to the Alpamare team.

"From the outset we were keen to appoint someone whose skills and experience matched their passion for Yorkshire and in particular, the Scarborough area.

"I am now looking forward to working with Vicki to build the rest of the team that will help to make Alpamare Scarborough a truly world class and successful year round attraction.”

Mrs Jones added :“Being given the opportunity to manage one of Europe’s largest and most luxurious water parks right on my own doorstep, really is a dream come true. Construction is continuing at a pace on site and it is going to be a privilege to open the doors to our very first customers in July.

"My ambition is to work with the rest of the team to create one of the UK’s best attractions right here on the Yorkshire coast.”
