No-stars care home 'improving'

A council-run care home has made "significant improvements" since a critical inspectors' report.

The Pennine Centre, on north Bransholme, in Hull, which cares for younger physically disabled adults, was at the centre of a furore over plans to save 300,000 earlier this year, which led Labour to accuse the Liberal Democrats of trying to close beds.

A report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) followed, which gave the 12-bed centre no stars out of a possible three.

However the latest inspection by the CQC in June bodes well.

A report to the Health and Well-Being Overview and Scrutiny Commission said the report was not yet a public document but the draft had shown significant improvements had been made "and there will be an improved quality rating for the service."
