Now it's Mandelson the movie

Lord Mandelson arrives for a screening of Mandelson: The Real PM? during the BFI London Film Festival at the National Film Theatre last night.

The former Business Secretary said the documentary was a "pretty accurate picture" of Ministerial life but refused to say whether it showed the real man behind the media image.

Director Hannah Rothschild filmed him in the run-up to this year's election.

Lord Mandelson said: "I think it gives a pretty accurate picture of what Ministerial life is like with all its downsides and other events. I don't know whether people will discover the real Peter Mandelson from the film but we will have to wait and see."

Ms Rothschild said: "It's a bit like being in the wake of a great white shark. He never stops, he is all seeing and all knowing."
