Numbers up again – and this time we’ve got a ticket

IT was second time lucky for a Grimsby couple who first saw their numbers come up after they stopped buying tickets to pay for nappies.

But six weeks ago, after a dream about a big win, they started playing again – and this time Susan and Lee Mullen had a ticket and are celebrating scooping £4.8m.

They had played the National Lottery religiously every week until their daughter was born six years ago and were left “totally gutted” when they saw all six of their numbers come up.

But at Christmas Mrs Mullen had a dream that lightning would strike twice and they started playing again – their numbers coming up just six weeks later.

Mr Mullen said yesterday: “Unbelievable. It really is a dream come true. To think you never ever have to look at the label to see how much it is or to worry about what you’re putting in your trolley.

“We just can’t comprehend that we never, ever have to worry.”

The 38-year-old said he and his wife were living in a rented property at the time their numbers first came up and could not even afford to buy furniture.

Mrs Mullen, 40, said she dreamt at Christmas their win would be even bigger. “It was £4.6m though, I was pretty close.”

The couple matched all five numbers and two lucky stars on their lucky dip ticket to scoop a £4,873,639.80 share of the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday February 4.

Mrs Mullen, who is registered disabled, said the money would make a huge difference.
