Officer hurt in police-chase crash

A police officer was taken to hospital last night after the police car he was in hit a wall as it chased a suspect in Leeds.

The collision occurred just before 6pm as police responded to reports of a man brandishing an offensive weapon close to a branch of the Sainsbury's supermarket in Harehills Lane, Leeds. The police car with two officers inside was chasing the suspect along Foundry Lane when it hit the wall of a home in Seaforth Avenue, just a few metres from the supermarket.

Following the crash, one of the officers chased after the suspect on foot and apprehended him. His colleague was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
