Police said the blaze, which was one of three fatal fires in West Yorkshire over the Easter weekend, was believed to have started accidentally and was not being treated as suspicious.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service urged people to take care in their homes.

Speaking about the fatal fires in Headingley, Morley and Baildon, deputy chief fire officer Steve Beckley said: "Our thoughts and concern remain with the families and friends of those who sadly died in these incidents.

"The events are a shocking reminder to us of the devastation of fire and smoke in the home. I would urge everyone to take just a few moments to consider fire safety in the home.

"It is essential that you have fitted and working smoke alarms and that in the event of a fire you have an escape plan. These simple measures will save lives."

The relatives of Mrs Ewing, or anyone who knows how they can be contacted, is asked to contact coroner's officer Lesley White on 0113 3970602.
