Officials look to sink fish lake plans

PLANS to improve facilities at a fishing lake look set to be rejected.

Councillors are being asked to decide on plans for a new bungalow and clubhouse at Farview Fishing Lakes, off Lee Lane at Wilsden, near Bradford.

A planning report by the council says that the replacement structures would be larger than the existing ones and would represent unacceptable developments in the green belt.

The council report says it is clear that the proposed clubhouse is intended to be “far more than a nature conservation or outdoor sports study centre”.

It adds: “It is not considered that the proposed development, as a whole, constitutes the provision or essential facilities for outdoor recreation that would be allowed under green belt policy.”

The report refers to the proposed two-storey building as “bulky” which would “stand prominently on the site and have a significant impact on openness due to its height and bulk.”

Separate plans for another fishing lake and a pond could be given permission because they would not cause visual harm to the green belt. The Keighley planning panel meets on October 24 at Shipley town hall.
