Old Trafford treat for Chilean miners

The Chilean miners trapped underground for two months earlier this year will jet into the UK to watch a Manchester United match.

Most of the 33 men are expected to come to Old Trafford to watch one of the team's next home games after United legend Sir Bobby Charlton suggested the visit while in Chile in the autumn. At least some of the miners are believed to be fans of the Premier League side.

The trip is being organised through Chilean wine producer Concha Y Toro, which sponsors United.

It has not yet been announced which fixture the miners will attend, but they are understood to be travelling to the UK on December 11. The men are expected to stay in the UK for about two nights.

The dramatic rescue was carried out in October when, one by one, the trapped miners were brought back to the surface in a capsule.

Two of them have said that plans for a film chronicling their ordeal, which made worldwide headlines, are moving fast.
