One dead and child injured in crash

The 66-year-old man, from Driffield, was driving a white Toyota Carina E on the A166, between Fridaythorpe and Garrowby Hill, when he was in collision with a blue Toyota Lucida at around 5pm on Friday.

He was taken to York District Hospital, where he died a short time later.

A 46-year-old woman, from the Driffield area, and the four-year-old boy, who were both travelling in the Lucida, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A Humberside Police spokeswoman said both were believed to be in a stable condition.
