One Direction star’s bid to buy Rovers collapses

AN ATTEMPT by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson to buy Doncaster Rovers has dramatically collapsed.

The 22-year-old had joined forces with former chairman John Ryan to buy a majority shareholding. Agreement was reached over a deal expected to be ratified today. However, new Football League rules on change of ownership have scuppered the deal.

The collapse will come as a disappointment to fans of One Direction, who had pledged £750,000 to a fund set up by Tomlinson and Ryan with a target of raising £2m.
