Online tributes pour in for popular schoolboy, 13, found dead at home

Police said Damion Thornton, was discovered with "serious injuries" on Monday, at an address in Broadway, Leeds.

Damion, a pupil at Corpus Christi Catholic College, in Halton Moor, was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Friends and neighbours have written messages on memorial websites including one which said: "Why did you not talk to someone? Nothing can't be sorted."

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said yesterday: "We were called at 4.30pm on Monday, January 17, to reports of a 13-year-old boy found with serious injuries at an address on Broadway, Leeds.

"He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

"The coroner has been informed. This is not being treated as suspicious."

Online tributes have poured in for the teenager.

Mike Woods, headteacher at Corpus Christi, said last night: "There is a deep sense of loss around the school and our thoughts and condolences are with Damion's family and friends.

"Damion was a popular young man who was progressing well and he will be missed by many people.

"During this difficult time the school has pulled together and we will continue to support and help each other come to terms with this sad news."

A message written by Fiona Campbell on the memorial website Gone Too Soon read: "Such a sad ending for such a young lad.

"Why did you not talk to someone? Nothing can't be sorted.

"Still, you are now at rest. May you look down on those that loved you and let them know your peace. God bless you little man."

And Jenna Kate Hines wrote on the social networking website Facebook: "Rest in peace darling: Your family would be so proud of you."
