Celebrating Barbara Hepworth, a Yorkshire original – The Yorkshire Post says

But coming on the very day that the most expansive exhibition of her work since her death was unveiled, it was as prescient as Hepworth herself.

The retrospective, to be mounted in the Wakefield gallery that takes her name, will be a rare opportunity to see in one place the breadth and scale of work that made Hepworth one of the most farsighted artists of her time. It takes in not only the large, public sculptures for which she is renowned but also the oils she painted of hospital operations under the nascent NHS – a precursor to the rainbows displayed on a thousand windows today, perhaps – and the costumes and sets she designed for the stage.

It is a collection without parallel that will draw the arts world once more to West Yorkshire.
