Children’s needs must be at centre of global pandemic recovery plans - The Yorkshire Post says

The giant piece of artwork that has been created on a hillside above Hebden Bridge is certainly striking, depicting a child’s face when viewed from high above. And behind it is a poignant message.

Making up the shape are 6,000 life-size images of children playing, representing the alarming statistic that up to 6,000 children are at risk of dying each day worldwide, as an indirect result of the coronavirus pandemic, as it affects infrastructure, food supplies and healthcare.

It is the work of arts organisation Sand In Your Eye, based in the town, who hope to highlight the plight of young people for International Children’s Day, today, and demonstrate “what that number really looks like”. The art’s magnitude undoubtedly captures that scale.
