Now truly global in every sense, the emergence of highly successful tours for women – and senior players – has brought a new dimension to golf as Welcome to Yorkshire explore the possibility of bringing top events, other than cycling, to the region and the benefits.

Next month’s Senior Gold Classic at the renowned Ilkley Golf Cup is the early foretaste of a tentative plan that could, ultimately, see the region bid to host the prestigious Solheim Cup, the pinnacle of women’s golf.
