Its spring showcase is set to bring tens of thousands of smiling faces to North Yorkshire from today and across the weekend for what is billed as the first major event in the national gardening calendar.

The North of England Horticultural Society, established in 1911, will host garden features, talks and demonstrations, shopping and beautiful exhibitions by florists and flower arrangers at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

And it will serve as an engaging opportunity for young people, or those of any age, to be educated and inspired as much as it will be a chance for horticultural aficionados to share their expertise – just as the days get a little longer.

What a wonderful way to salute the coming season of brilliant outdoor showcases across amazing Yorkshire.
