North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s hero volunteers – The Yorkshire Post says

HOW fitting that the North Yorkshire Moors Railway – one of the most iconic heritage lines in the country – is all steamed up to resume this services on Yorkshire Day this Saturday.

Testament to the work of the 550 volunteers who support the railway, and the measures taken to guarantee the safety of passengers, the rhythmical sound of its steam engines will mark a welcome return to some normality.

And while the initial timetable is limited, the steps being taken by the NYMR also make full use of the funding made available by the National Lottery and European Union for a new carriage shed under construction.

A line which is synonymous with the breathtaking beauty of North Yorkshire, it is also a tribute to all those volunteers who give up their time so visitors can enjoy a journey – and day – to remember.
