Sue Barker is A Question of Sport. Now BBC has questions of sport to answer – The Yorkshire Post says

SUE BARKER’S hosting of A Question of Sport on the BBC for the past 23 years has been one of the great innings in sports broadcasting.

Launched 50 years ago, she had near-impossible shoes to fill when she succeeded David Coleman in the programme’s hotseat.

But her good humour – and her repartee with the show’s captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell – ensured that this national institution remained in safe hands.

And it has proved to be so successful because it provided light-hearted family entertainment, participants never took themselves too seriously and producers rarely deviated from this tried and tested formula.

In many respects, an invitation to appear on A Question of Sport was the ultimate accolade for a competitor. It meant they had made their mark. That should still be the case when the BBC unveils a new format and the first female captains in the show’s history.
