Winds of change

THE winds of change are already blowing through Yorkshire as the region looks to place itself at the forefront of the evolving green revolution.

This is highlighted by the firms, whose number now include Huddersfield manufacturer David Brown, who are turning their attention to the renewables industry, and the potential that it offers.

There are, of course, sceptics who decry such sources of power. But the world is now very different to the recent past when UK energy policy was dependent upon coal mined in Yorkshire – and Britain is going to require a range of energy sources in the future to guarantee supplies.

With the Humber coast uniquely placed to become a nationwide hub for offshore wind power, it makes sense for local engineering skills to be utilised to create jobs – and keep the lights burning.
