YP Letters: Bus pass controversy as Labour hits a dead-end

From: D Webb, Rothwell.

Should students and the elderly be entitled to free bus travel?

I AGREE with Hilary Andrews (The Yorkshire Post, December 12). Everyone should be allowed to apply for a bus pass if they so wish.

Regarding Coun Mickleburgh, even Scrooge gave his employee Christmas Day off. Would he like to drive a bus on Christmas Day? His idea to means test would produce a big round figure.

Labour “the party of the workers”, what a joke.

In fact what a year for the Labour Party, losing an election it would have been easier to win and producing their own “headstone” which should have been inscribed “Labour Party RIP”.

They then decide it’s a good idea to open the floodgates to mischief-makers and the far left to take the party over, at £3 a throw. Did it not occur to them to restrict the vote to people who were members at the time of the election, the true members?

Then, to cap it all, some Labour MPs think it’s a good idea to give a far left MP a chance to run in the leadership race, not done by conviction, more for a laugh.

Who is laughing now?

Let this be a lesson to us all, only vote for something you truly believe in.
