WHAT a pity that Bolton Abbey have had to cancel all their sold out Christmas events as they fear that visitors will not follow social distancing guidelines.

This decision has had to be made because of the abbey’s experience of recent visitor behaviour. We can only imagine what the abbey has been up against.

Sadly, this underlines what the Government is facing when having to make decisions about the tiers for lockdown.

However many rules are imposed, there will always be those who think that they know better or, even worse, just do not care.

Everybody else has to suffer for their selfishness, and those people who are complaining about the latest news should bear this in mind.

I TOTALLY endorse your editorial last week suggesting that people pay in advance for visits to tourist attractions and other venues – and use them as Christmas gifts.
