Cameron challenged over his stance on gay marriage

From: V Platt, Hereford Court, Hereford Road, Harrogate.

HAS David Cameron bitten off more than he can chew this time?

Could it be that by casting his veto in the EU (which they said didn’t count and was immediately ignored) has inflated his ego and made him feel like superman and he has now decided he is ready to take on the Pope, the Catholic Church, all 1.25 billion of us and even God himself? He thinks God has got it wrong with regards to homosexuality and men marrying men.

To remind him King David (not to be confused with the biblical Goliath) of God’s words written by human hands in the Old Testament (Leviticus 20-10): “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

I don’t know if Mr Cameron gets to read the Yorkshire Post, if not, he should. So if anyone reading this has any contact with David our new Messiah, please try and explain to him in very simple terms to think again. If he has at least one brain cell he will surely understand he isn’t going to win – not this one. I’d put my money on God any day, God isn’t a politician.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, that Christians should be allowed to wear their crosses or crucifixes in the workplace, especially as Sikhs are permitted to wear turbans and Muslims hijabs.

It is indeed incredible that in a Christian country, where the Queen is the head of the established church, the Government should take the opposite view.

Dr Sentamu is reported as saying (Yorkshire Post, March 12): “My view is that this is not the business of government actually. They are beginning to meddle in areas that they ought not to.”

Unfortunately, Dr Sentamu’s argument is undermined by the fact that the Government has accused the Anglican Church on many occasions of interference in the affairs of government.

It seems to be a matter of “what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander”.
