Conversion in the rugby world

From: J Lewis, Queenswood Court, Leeds.

THIS is something I should have done years ago. I spent years reading the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday newspapers and then I just got fed up with reading two and three full pages on Manchester United and Manchester City and no rugby league news at all. That’s it in a nutshell.

I spoke to my newsagent, who advised me to pick up the weekend Yorkshire Post and now this 80-year-old Yorkshireman has found the paper he wants every morning (and he’s been living here all these years). Hence this letter to the Editor to ask for his forgiveness – I’m now on your side.

Differing fuel prices

ON the day the Queen made her speech to Parliament, diesel was 141.79p a litre at Tesco in York. At my local Bridlington Tesco, it was 146.99p a litre.

What is most important for our cost of living? Yes, it’s fuel. So how is the Bridlington branch of Tesco permitted to charge us a whole 5p a litre more than the folk of York?

Arboretum allows dogs

From: Rita Thompson, Crow Tree Lane, Bradford.

REGARDING the letter (Yorkshire Post, May 10) on the admittance of dogs to gardens and festivals in Holland, I would like to point out to the correspondent that not many miles from where she lives there is a wonderful arboretum namely Thorpe Perrow near Bedale. Dogs are welcome there but have to be kept on leads for obvious reasons.
