Foxes must not be encouraged

From: RP Brocklebank, Glen Crescent, Melbourne, York.

“FOX attacks one month-old baby in London” (Yorkshire Post, February 11). Will it take a fatality to make some people realise
that to encourage a natural born killer by feeding it household waste food will eventually lead to grief?

There is room in this country for most living things but vermin have to be kept under control. The only thing I would feed a fox with is a lump of lead.

FANCY anyone bothering to tell us that they don’t like self-service checkout systems at some supermarkets!

I very much like the independence of being able to use them because I don’t have a huge shopping list, so I find it useful not to have to queue.

Isn’t it wonderful that we have a free choice and can please ourselves ?

I hope the shops don’t discontinue this useful asset.

Charities pay for Savile crime

From: Hilary Andrews, Wentworth Court, Nursery Lane, Leeds.

IT seems sad (if not surprising) that the females supposedly abused by Jimmy Savile are
now claiming compensation to the detriment of the charities which he did work so hard to support.

At least we should praise the police for thoroughly investigating claims of abuse where the purported abusers are still alive and able to defend themselves.
