Get involved to clear up NHS misunderstanding

From: Dr Vicky Pleydell, Shadow Accountable Officer, Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group.

AS local GPs now responsible for purchasing local health services, the Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is currently talking to people about why children’s and maternity services at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton need to change and explaining the current thinking of the doctors who care for these children about options for the future.

The reasons for change are complex but not unique to this area and will affect many other small hospitals across the country.

The CCG is working with South Tees Hospitals Trust to develop further options as a result of what people are telling us in focus groups, public meetings and via the survey we are conducting.

However, we are concerned that our meetings show there is still a lot of misunderstanding about why change has to happen and what the options mean.

Therefore, I am urging people to get involved in our discussions, either by coming to one of our remaining meetings, completing our survey or submitting their feedback to us.

Alternatively you can call us on 0800 06 88 000 to request any information including our survey or to ask questions and submit feedback. Our engagement process goes on until June 25 and I urge people to make the most of this opportunity.
